Transcontinental Race No6
In 2016 I was studying for my exams when a firnd of mine made me aware of some lunatics cycling accross europe in less than 10 days in an event called the Transcontinental Race. Luckily for me, you were able to track these guys and gals with GPS trackers and I had a new mode of procrastination. When I showed this to my friend Oliver, with whom I made a longer cycling trip to the adria the year before he was hooked. So in 2017, while I was travelling across asia, he battled his way through europe. Apparently it was not even that hard as he wanted to re race it the year. This time he invited me to join him and do the thing as pair. I bought a proper bike and started preparing. Putting in around 4000km between March and July had to suffice. I was pretty afraid when travelling to the start as I experienced knee issues and numb fingers from long gravel sections. Still, we started from Geeraardsbergen as pair with the cap number 259 and we made it in 14 days 10 hours and 23 minutes. It was though sometimes but overall I had a BLAST.
